THE HIDDEN TOXINS  AROUND US AND HOW WE PROTECT OURSELVES

Who is excited about the Pumpkin Spice Latte launching this fall at Starbucks?

I was, up until now.

It was just revealed that their most popular drink is loaded with hazardous chemicals that literally kill us. This is unfortunately becoming a common feature in the food industry. These so called ‘ingredients’ are not made to be ingested nor in any be exposed to the human body. And if they were, the companies would probably be more open about the truth and give out the full list of ingredients. Read the full story here.

So this month we would like to raise awareness on how we can all protect ourselves from harmful chemicals that seem to sneak in everywhere. In our homes, in our offices to in our foods and drinks that we consume. We can be fit and eat all the right foods, but if we continue to expose ourselves to these toxins we will keep getting sick and the world will keep getting even more polluted.

What to eliminate and where they can be found.

Cleaning Supplies. You reach for that Clorox bottle? Generic brands are filled with hazardous chemicals.
Fertilizers & Pesticides. Looking for that perfect lawn, a garden free from weeds and that perfect looking tomato? Think twice. All those chemicals go straight into our water supplies, into our drinking water and into the vegetables that we grow.
Fragrance & Parfum. Anything that smells good should be good for us, right? Sorry to break the news but these chemicals have been added in the lab and are highly cancerogenic and cause strong allergic reactions. We are not promoting BO, there are many alternative options available.
Artificial coloring. Yellow, blue and red, they all need to be put to bed.
Artificial flavoring. Wonder why some pre made food taste so good?
Preservatives. The food and cosmetic industry want their products to last longer. The solution? Preservatives, that certainly don’t have a pleasant effect in our bodies.

Why this is important.

Many of these substances are carcinogenic and cause cancer. Allergies, asthma, mood disorders, ADHD/ADD are becoming more frequent and have been shown to be caused by these chemicals. Usually the symptoms develop over time, which can make it harder to connect the dots.
Pollution. Without becoming an environment activist, we all should take responsibility for how we treat this world.

So now we know, what do we do?

Seven steps:

1. Use organic cleaning supplies for your home, office and don’t forget your car!
2. Use organic and biodegradable fertilizers and pesticides.
3. Clean out your shower. Toss generic shampoos, conditioners and soaps. Replace with organic and safe brands. Our favorite product line is MARIA ÃKERBERG Deepskin Organics, of course!
4. Say no to processed and packaged foods.
5. Buy organic produce. Support sustainable farming.
6. Purify your drinking water.
7. Glass over plastic containers.

At Balans we only use green and organic cleaning supplies, we spray the studio with organic tea tree oil mist, a natural antibacterial essential oil. Recently we have also cleaned out our bathrooms, and replaced any products with the cleanest, purest and safest product line MARIA ÃKERBERG Deepskin Organics. It’s for the whole family, for body, face and hair and you can trust that there are ZERO harmful ingredients. 100% organic and eco-friendly, just the way it should be!

We share because we care!

To a life in good health.
