The Importance of Touch in Skincare

The importance of touch reaches many levels in the human species. It improves development in infants, children, teenagers, adults and old age.
We as humans have specific needs for survival: shelter, nourishment, cleanliness, and the necessity of the human touch.
It has been proven that the myth of “holding an infant too much, is not healthy” is absolutely false. “Skin on skin” touch is vital in the development of newborns, as well as all stages of life.
Our lives can get hectic and overwhelming at times, causing us to neglect making healthy choices. We get consumed in taking care of everyone else, or we simply forget how important it is to take care of “ourselves”. Let’s face it, if we don’t feel good, healthy or energetic: it makes it more difficult to be productive and confident in our everyday challenges.
Skincare can play a significant role in achieving healthy patterns. In our treatments, it is important that we instill the method of combining specific movements of massage and touch to nurture, heal, rejuvenate and replenish your skin.
We get in the habit of exercising our bodies, but not our faces! As we age, our skin develops fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity. This is due to our facial expressions, genetics, muscle tension and lack of proper nourishment.
There is a reason why “massage” is involved in facials. Massage helps relax the muscles around your eyes, face and neck. This type of muscle manipulation improves and relaxes fine lines. It also puts your skin and body in a relaxed state, which in turn, allows productive cell renewal and proper absorption of products.
We have to get over the idea that we are “pampering” ourselves by getting a facial, massage or body treatment. In actuality , we are “taking care of ourselves”, and improving our health head to toe.
